Papua New Guinea - Eastern Highlands

Rich, smooth, and remarkably balanced, this peaberry coffee comes from smallholder farms surrounding the Lahamenegu Mill in Papua New Guinea’s Eastern Highlands.

Coffee grows here at approximately 1,550 meters above sea level in fertile volcanic soils. Freshly harvested cherries are delivered to the Lahamenegu wet mill, where centralized processing provides greater consistency and quality control than the small-scale processing traditionally common throughout Papua New Guinea.

This particular lot is a peaberry — a naturally occurring coffee bean that develops as a single, rounded seed inside the coffee cherry rather than the usual pair of flat-sided beans. Peaberries are separated during processing and prized for their distinctive character and concentrated flavor.

In the cup, expect a full, creamy body with a foundation of dark chocolate and brown sugar, complemented by notes dried plum. Moderate acidity keeps the coffee lively without becoming overly bright, making this an approachable single-origin that's equally enjoyable as a morning cup or an afternoon brew.

The result is the kind of coffee we love at Encore: distinctive enough to explore, but balanced and inviting enough to drink every day.
