Coffee Tasting Journal - 33 Cups of Coffee

33 Coffees is a coffee journal that provides an easy way to quickly record coffee tasting notes in a small, convenient notebook format.  33 Coffees is perfect for coffee aficionados, geeks, nerds, layabouts and other fans of the roaster's art.

Designed for Speed

This coffee journal is designed for ease of use. It’s tough to hold a notepad in one hand, a pencil in the other, and have another hand left for your cup. Taking notes with 33 Coffees is as simple as checking a few boxes and entering a few basic facts.

The flavor wheel in 33 Coffees can be used to quickly recall a coffee’s unique flavor long after consumption. For low values of the flavor, fill in dots near the wheel’s center. A shade-grown, organic Guatemalan is used in the example shown at right.

Eco-Friendly

33 Coffees is made with 100% recycled papers sourced in the Pacific Northwest. Interior pages are 100% post-consumer recycled content and covers are 85% post-consumer recycled content and 15% recycled content. The booklets are printed using US-grown soy-based inks in sunny Portland, Oregon.

    Our COMPANY
    Where is your coffee shop?

We don’t run a coffee shop. Encore Coffee Company is a production location and does not serve coffee beverages. Our complete focus is on roasting great coffee beans and delivering them fresh to our customers.

Where can I find Encore Coffee near me?

Retail bags of Encore Coffee can be found at the three flagship Made in Kansas City and Local Foundery in Lee's Summit in addition to purchasing online. As we grow, our retail partners will be listed on our website.

    Can I come and visit?

Meetings regarding wholesale or other business opportunities are by appointment only. From time to time we do have open cupping sessions, please watch our Facebook page for details. If you need more info drop us an email at info@encorecoffeeco.com.

How can my café/restaurant/store/church sell your coffee?

We would be glad to discuss your opportunity, please call us at 816-701-9150 or email info@encorecoffeeco.com.

    Our COFFEE
Can I have my coffee ground?

Sure! Simply select the ground size when ordering.

How should I store my coffee?

In an air-tight container – please do not freeze.

How long will coffee stay fresh?

Coffee is best from a few days after the roast up to a month. Coffee can be consumed for several months but the quality of coffee will be diminished. We encourage people to only buy enough coffee to be consumed within 2-4 weeks.

    What is single origin coffee?

Single origin coffee is simply a coffee grown within a known geographic origin. We try to source coffee which can be identified down to the farmer and/or processing mill.

How do you source your coffee?

We work together with a number of coffee producers, exporters, and importer partners to source the highest quality coffees at an affordable price.

Are your coffees certified USDA organic?

No. Unfortunately, due to the high cost of USDA organic certification, we have decided not to certify our facility at this point in time.

Is there caffeine in decaffeinated coffee?

Yes, but only a small amount; decaf coffees range from between 97% and 99% caffeine free.

    Roasting and Shipping Times
When will my coffee be roasted and shipped?

Order placed up to midnight on Monday will be roasted on Tuesday and shipped no later than Wednesday. Depending on where you live, you will receive your coffee between 2-5 business days from the roast date. Because coffee needs to rest before brewing, you will receive your coffee at its optimal brewing maturity.

    What is your shipping charge?

Shipping is determined by the weight of the product and delivery location.  We offer shipping via USPS and UPS. Other options may be available at time of checkout.

    Do you ship internationally?

    Sorry, not at this time.

    Decaffeination Process

    Open tab

When it comes to decaf – there are three methods in which coffee is decaffeinated - Sugar Cane/Ethyl Alcohol, Swiss Water, and Methylene Chloride or MC.  We currently offer coffee using the Sugar Cane/Ethyl Alcohol decaffeinated process. This process is prevalent in countries that produce Sugar Cane (like Colombia).

Once the sugar cane plant has reached its maturity, the plant is harvested and pressed to collect the liquid juice from the plant.  The sugar cane juice is fermented to produce alcohol (like we use Corn in the US for ethanol) and the natural by-product is ethyl acetate. The green coffee is then submerged into the EA which bonds to the caffeine.  Once this process is completed the coffee is steamed at low pressures to remove any residual EA.  The coffee is then dried and ready for our roaster!
